It goes for all future consoles, so I figured Other Platforms was a good place for this.
How do you feel about just downloading games and not needing discs? I know services like the Virtual Console do something similar, and you can download new games on PS3 and 360. Similar to how the PSP Go was going to do things. Would you welcome something like this, a media-less way to play? As a pro you could say you can't lose your games. But a con would be no trading in, no borrowing or lending to friends.
I for one love having physical copies. Unless its something from a service like the Virtual Console on Wii and 3DS. Your thoughts?

I think we should always have both. It's nice to have the hard copies. Some look cool. It would kind of put a damper on special editions because it would no longer come with the collectible statues. There would be no game stores for newer systems only retro games. You still could let friends borrow games? They did this with the nook. You lent the book (game in this case) to the person and they can use it for a designated time period (a week usually) and then it was deleted of their console. But the entire time the person who lent out the game kept it on their hard drive the entire time. Keep the disks.

Well 7 GB is a lot larger to just up and "share" compared to a MB or 2 for a book.

i know it's where the trend is going for all media, but i for one, am not a fan. Take digital music downloads. i can go out and buy a CD at a record store, pay maybe 12-14 dollars, have a nice physical copy, and rip it to my computer in a FLAC file or other loss-less audio. Now, i go on Itunes, pay the SAME amount of money, or in many cases more, and NOT have a tangible item. case in point, i have a kindle, and i was looking at a specific book, i could buy the softcover for 12 bucks, the kindle version of it was 15......REALLY?!?! ya, screw you amazon.
like i said, i know thats what all media will go to eventually, the days of brick and mortar stores like Barnes and Nobel and game stop are nearing to an end as we go to a digital distribution model (something like past time legend is safe as it's appeal form a collector stand point)

That's true but stores wouldn't be able to make a profit on only retro games.

i hope we stay with physical media. Otherwise millions of jobs are gone because you only need a few people to keep maintenance on a server that completes sales and downloads.
