I say as it stands it is a bit of a miss. It had little support, and all the games were gimmicky at best. Although after this years E3 I have high hopes for the Kinect. Anything you saw for Kinect you're interested in? For me it's the new Fable.

I'd say it's a hit on the grounds that it was a "Wii 2.0" and that it has games that are coming out for it still. I would say there is LESS support than there used to be, but it's not totally gone. It's prolly gonna get a boost from the new games, but it's a but too little too late. When the WiiU comes out, it's all over. TKO, if you will. xD

Well it is moving into more mainstream games, like Mass Effect and Tom Clancy. I am sure it won't be a way to play for the rest of video game history, but for now I think it will do fine. I enjoy all consoles different means of playing games. Instead of just ports, developers have to actually work at all versions now hehe

Ha, yeah, there's definitely that. XD They definitely have the right idea, though. Using your body as a controller is an awesome idea; even if it's way out there mainstream-wise, we're getting ever so much closer to "virtual reality." That'd prolly get me into first-person shooters, if anything.

The software to this point doesn't do much for me, though the support Microsoft voiced for Kinect at E3 this year was encouraging.
The hardware itself is incredible though. Just search kinect hacks on google to see some of the awesome uses people are coming up with.

I think of the Kinect more of a toy than a controller or anything. It's cool to try it or play it at a friends house with easy games like Dance Central or Kinect Adventures. I couldn't see myself ever playing a "real" game on it. I also prefer a controller with motion control, like the Wii or Playstation Move. While the idea is awesome, I call it a miss.

...whens nintendo gunna do new games that aren't super mario bros. 47 or legend of zelda, link saves another blonde chick LOL... Sounds like [insert first-person shooter here] or [insert sports title here] to me, if you wanna talk about pointless sequels. But here's not the place for it. xD Like previously stated, the hardware is impressive, and the day we don't need a controller sounds appealing. BUT, that doesn't mean we can't still have a controller anyway for various different game mechanics, since that idea might seem a tad far-fetched thinking about it now. =o

Well, if by "no games," you mean it had a lot of good first-party games, and the whole point of Nintendo is to innovate gaming and try and make something new and crazy each time around. =o
Also, again, this isn't a Nintendo thread, this is a Microsoft/Kinect thread.
Who's to say that the Kinect can't be revolutionary like the Wii was? Honestly, I don't really care which company does what; if it's awesome, it's awesome. Which is why I haven't said anything like, "GAHHH NINTENDO IS BEST EVAR SONY AND MICROSOFT SUCK," 'cause that's just closed-minded and silly. xD

I honestly don't buy the motion sensor stuff, but i'm both afraid and sure that thats where the video game market is going. standing in front of my TV flailing my arms around like a moron does nothing for me, it's not fun, it's idiotic, and it's never as responsive as an actual controller in your hand. now, i'm not on the TOTAL motion sensor hate wagon. it has it's uses. dance central is fun, the party aspect of any motion based game is good for laughs(see the rayman raving rabbids series) but i truley hope that it will never replace a tangible controller. How would one do a Ultra Combo in street fighter 4 for instance. it would require so many different hand and arm motions that it would just be impractical.
that being said, there is one, and only one, Kinect game i am looking forward to getting my hands on, and that is suda51s new magnum opus. As of right now it's only known as Codename D but if anyone could pull off a good game on the kinect, it's goichi suda

I would consider purchasing a Kinect if they came out with decent games and controls for it. Like and RPG where instead of pressing "A" to pick a weapon/ item you have to bend over to pick it up. I also think the whole "playing a motion control game is equivalent to exercise" is stupid. If you need to exercise, which everybody does, you should get out and do something, not stand in front of your tv and play a video game.
