What do you think the next system from Microsoft is going to be? What should it have? When do you think it is going to be released?

I am actually not a big Microsoft fan. I like sony and nintendo slot better. I'm not excited for a new xbox. I don't think they need a new one for now either because there are very good games and they are selling very well.

I'm actually in the same boat as Kyle, I don't really see the need for a "completely new Xbox" when Sony or Nintendo does everything better. Though I DO enjoy Halo, that's all I really see for the future of Microsoft. =o

I think they are good right now with the X-Box 360 so I don't even see the need for a new Microsoft System. If they do make a new system they do need to keep the classics and bring back some others. Halo, Half-Life, etc.

The Kinect was created to extend the life of the 360. If we do see another Microsoft console, it won't be quite a long time. I have an Xbox myself, but I agree with Bushy on this one; Why develop a new console if the competitors are already overshadowing Microsoft's "achievements"? The 360 has become far too casual.

i know the idea for the kinect was supposed to be a life extender for the xbox, but i don't see it. it will obviously hinge on the games, but just like the wii, i don't see anything being overly good using motion controls. again, few exceptions, but you look at something like twilight princess, it's actually worse with the motion controls. play the game cube version, then the wii....the wii is a basket of poo in comparison. Granted, this could be chaulked up to the fact that the motion control was tacked on. granted, i don't mean that i think the next xbox is going to be rushed out the door anytime soon, but i've heard people making it sound like the kinect was going to extend the life of the xbox by like 5 years, and i really only see it going another 2.....MAYBE 3, but i wouldn't be suprised if dev kits for the next console are going to be rollin out to devs soon, cause you KNOW the next console is already being worked on, and probably has been for some time.
and i fail to see how microsofts achievements have been "overshadowed"..... as far as motion sensor tech goes, kinect is far superior to the other 2. the wii was never THAT good to beginning with(on the motion side of things, i like some of the games) and though the wii plus helped it out a bit, it's still just not that precise. and the move is just a slightly more advanced version of it. Microsoft also has a much better online package with the XBL. games themselves, as i've said in another thread, the amount of exclusives now days is almost negligible(at least AAA titles) so the game argument has pretty much become a moot point. and even the exclusives, you almost go toe to toe with those. Prototype to infamous......resistance to gears......ect ect.
Granted, this isn't one sided. i can point out plenty of stuff that the other consoles do better then the xbox as well, generally their all on pretty even keel, this probably being the most balanced game generation ever. If i was to pick one console as the winner of this "generation" i would say the 360. but again, as i said...it's all relative. i give the xbox the edge on the controller cause the ps3 one to me feels cheap and dosn't fit my hand, but it's got a bluray player, which i actually use as a bluray player. so it all depends on what you use it for, what games you want to play. these are just 2 examples of things i take into account.

I don't see a new Xbox anytime soon. While the 360 itself is starting to show its age, both hardware and software related, it still has some kick. As for being casual, it is what people do with it. Most people I know prefer Xbox for shooters over the PS3. I for one prefer the 360 controller over the PS3 one. When it comes down to it, its all a matter of preference, every console has "casual" games.
I also saw an article the other day that says the 360 is about halfway through its life. Which means no new console for at least 4-5 more years. But I would put money on an announcement next year or 2013 the latest. I could say a lot, but I brought up some similar points in a thread I made about a PS4.

A new xbox is not needed. Just new and better games. At least not for bow but a little bit in the future. 2-3 years???

It is hard to make new and better games when the hardware is seriously lacking, especially compared to PCs that require so much just make the same game run decently. Console counterparts have a lot shaved off detail wise because it cannot handle it.

we'll never get better games if people keep buying the same crap over and over. and by the way, you want better games, a new console is a stepping stone to that. there are creative directors out there brimming with ideas who can't pursue them due to the current limitations of this gen of console. perfect example, look at Peter Molyneux, he promises the world for his games, realizes the systems won't support what he promised, and he has to dumb it down. he's someone who's always trying to develop like 5 years down the road. New hardware will allow more processing power, which obviously means better graphics, but on top of that, you have bigger environments, better AI. Progress breeds innovation in the game world. Usually some of your really good titles that end up being the consoles flag ship games end up being launch titles cause once devs get this new hardware in their hands......they go "woah, this hardware is powerfull enough to do that thing we wanted to do"(i know, non descriptive, but you get the idea)
in the end though, as i said, we'll never get better games if people don't buy them. as a consumer you obviously vote on what you want when you buy a product. so when 20 million people buy modern warfare 2, you're saying......yah, we want more of this......hence all the stupid realistic modern warfare games coming out now.

I know that by making a new X-Box there will be newer technology and better games. What I'm saying is Microsoft is doing good and if it ain't broke don't fix it. They should start working on a new console or thinking of a new console but they are still making alot of money and people are satisfied with the games. I'm not against advancement and progress I'm just saying where they are now is good enough to keep me and most likely other fans satisfied for a year or two. Maybe even 3 if they keep coming out with good games.

That's the whole point, though. It's like the "PS4" we keep talkin' about; "aside from a hardware update, what else can they even do with it?"

Well for the Xbox line I have one request for the next one - Don't make the console have such a high failure rate. I will GLADLY pay the extra 100 or so for a console that will not break. If it costs more to put decent parts in that won't melt, or to help keep it cool enough then do it. People will still buy your product, especially if they know thought has gone into that very subject.
